Mount Bromo (Indonesian: Gunung Bromo), is an active volcano and part of the Tengger massif, in East Java, Indonesia. At 2,329 metres (7,641 ft) it is not the highest peak of the massif, but is the most well known. The massif area is one of the most visited tourist attractions in East Java, Indonesia. Bromo was my first trip actually, it took some times for me and a couple friend of mine to pick bromo as our tour destination this time. actually semeru comes first, but due to lack of preparation and time, we decided to choose bromo, not just because it’s a mountain trip (which is where most of my friends want to go this time), going to bromo wouldn’t need a lot of preparation, and also we can have four scene of beauty in one trip. it’s the sunsets at pananjakan mountain, sea sand, savannah, and of course the volcano it self
i will write about bromo journey partially, because all fourth scene deserve it’s own admiration. me and my friend started our journey from solo, we took the train from station jebres solo to probolinggo station, it’s only cost 50.000 rupiah (that time! hehe). the train took about 8 hours to get to probolinggo, but it was a great time. i can enjoy a large green area a long the way.
we arrived at probolinggo station at 3 P.M. at the stations there were a lot of transportation you can pick to get you to the bus station. me and my friends choose the cab to take us to the bus station. it’s only about half an hours, we arrived at the bus stations. there, we meet the local people that told us that to get on cemoro lawang (entrance of bromo) we can use the minibus. but we have to wait for other traveler, because the mini bus won’t departure if it was not full. the capacity of the minibus was 15 people, while my group was only six, and there was another couple, so we still wait for another 7 more people.
we was waiting until 7 P.M when we decide to talk to the driver to rent the minibus.. after having an agreement about the price (whish is more expensive) with the driver and of course the couple that also going with us, the driver finally take us to the entrance of bromo “cemoro lawang” and trust me, if you’re not familiar with indonesian driver, you better prepare to get sick on this mini bus! the driver was pretty “crazy” here. but whatever, here we are.. cemoro lawang!!!
when first arrived, the driver offer to take us to the home stay, there was a lot of home stay you could find at cemoro lawang (almost all house there was a home stay). but we decide to look for the motel by ourself. the price was vary, from 150.000 rupiah per room, 100.000 rupiah per people, and even 500.000 rupiah per house. after look for couple different places to make sure about the regular price, we (and the couple) decide o rent a 500.000 rupiah motel. it was about 11.P.M me and my friends went out to find and talk to the local people about how we can get to pananjakan to see the sunrise tomorrow. there were several option given by the local people there. first was by motorcycle, it cost 150.000 per people to get on all fourth scene. second, by off road car, this cost 400.000 per car.
because the number of people we take doesn’t ft on one car, and of course rent two car would not be a wise choice (economically hehe..) we then decide to rent a motorcycle. after having an agreement to meet up at 3 A.M tomorrow, me and my friend bought some food and beer to take to the motel. it was late at night, let’s just stay awake, being cold, and of course drinking beer!! see you tomorrow at pananjakan mountain!
